No Science background is not compulsory to study BASLP. There are colleges they can join without Science background. Many western country doesn't consider it as a medical or allied health profession ( for ex: in Australia speech pathologist and audiologist doesn't consider as a health profession, that is the only one profession that doesn't comes under AHPRA. Rest all others including Psychology, Radiology, Nursing, Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy comes under AHPRA)
In Australia, you can study Masters in Audiology, or Master in Speech Pathology even with any degree, but you just have to do some Anatomy and Physiology course. After all it is not that hard to study Audiology and speech pathology when compare to Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and Nursing. Because they study more of Anatomy, Physiology, Medicine, Pharmacology and Surgery.

Data Scientist is a technical course and involves use of subjects like Machine Learning, Data Analytics, python etc. A student with B.Tech / B.E. Or M.Tech / M.E. Degrees is generally preferred. However, if you take commerce, you can pursue your Bachelors in Statistics and learn relevant skills required for data scientist and pursue higher studies in the same field to become data scientist. There are various courses that are available NB online with the help of them you can learn data analysis. Coursera, linkedin, udemy, Eudonix etc. Provide this course. It is highly in demand now a days. There are online courses on data Science likeCrampete Data Science Course that give you a Certificate of completion which you can use to get a job as a data scientist. After gaining required skills you can apply for Interviews and get a job. Gaining a certification in data Science one can apply for jobs like analytics delivery model data analyst, senior data scientist, lead data scientist etc. Hope this answer is helpful for you.

Submit the application form at the college office. At the UG level, HL College of Commerce offers the B.Com course. Candidates who have passed 10+2 from the English medium, or have taken up English as a subject in 10+2 are considered eligible to apply for B.Com programme. Admission to the B.Com course will be done on the basis of merit in the qualifying 10+2 examination. The merit list for admission of candidates will be prepared by the college admissions committee.
