Aircraft maintenance engineer is a 3 years course leading to a degree of B.Sc. After the completion of the course, students are enabled to obtain license from DGCA. After the license is obtained the student can seek the job in any of the civil Airlines operating aircraft which carry passengers or cargo. Presently in India, both the passenger as well as the cargo Air Traffic is increasing at an annual rate of about 15%. Aircraft maintenance engineering course is definitely not an engineering course even though the word engineering appears in the title. However one cannot call it a technician's course also. This is because a student gets a degree or B.Sc. After 3 years of studies in this course. After the completion of the course the students get the license from DGCA to work as aircraft maintenance engineers on the aircraft which are used by civil Airlines for carrying passengers and / or cargo.
