Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) is one of the best courses in the aviation sector. AME is three-year license programme regulated by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India. The scope of AME is very good in Indias as well as foreign airlines. As we know that India is the fastest growing aviation market after US and China. India placed an order of 1080 new aircraft so, the demand of AME in future increases. Hello Muhammad,
I am afraid one can not legally work on an aircraft as maintenance engineer without license from DGCA. But all the institutes offering AME enable students to take on this license exam.

Yes it is a good college for doing MBA with aviation and logistics management, which comes with 6 months airport internship.

Hello Rahul, Aeronautical engineering courses are of four years duration and need to be recognised by AICTE. On the other hand, AME courses are of three years duration and need to be recognised by DGCA.

Hello Abdu, Aircraft Maintenance engineering is actually not an engineering branch. Students passing out of these courses are enabled to obtain DGCA liscence. In India air traffic is increasing by as much as 10% PA. This has already resulted in many airlines purchasing aeroplanes. Hence prospects are quite good for some years ahead.

Hello Aadil,
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and Aeronautical engineering courses are different. AME means one would be trained in the maintainance activities of aircraft and which should lead to a job with an airline. Of course, one needs to obtain a liscence from DGCA for working in India. Aeronautical Engineering on the other hand is a different cup of tea. It teaches you different aspects of a flying object. IIT-Mumbai is the best option for AE. For AME, there are plenty of colleges in each state.
