School of Distance Education, an organ of this University, started in 1972, has been one of the pioneering institutions in the field of Higher Education. Whereas, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, also known as BRAOU, is a well-respected institution of higher learning located in Hyderabad, India. The university was established in 1982 with the goal of providing access to education for marginalized and disadvantaged communities. Today, BRAOU is a leader in distance education, offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs to students from all backgrounds.

The Adult Education Master's (MA) programme at Andhra University spans a 2-year duration and offers a comprehensive exploration of the realms within social studies and humanities. Encompassing subjects like languages, history, sociology, economics, social work, music, and mass communication, this full-time course requires candidates to hold a Bachelor's degree for eligibility. The selection procedure entails participation in the Common Entrance Examination, overseen by Osmania University. Subsequent admission occurs through university counseling, contingent on candidates' performance in the entrance examination. Furthermore, a management quota reserves 10% of the seats for students securing 50% or above in their undergraduate examinations. This provides an alternative pathway to secure admission.
