Getting into Annamalai University DDE typically isn't tough because, unlike on-campus programs, most distance education programs don't require entrance exams. Selection to the course of interest is based on meeting the minimum eligibility criteria. However, there are exceptions - for some Master's programs (like MBA, MCA), you might need scores from entrance exams like TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test).

The online/distance degrees offered by the Centre for Distance and Online Education at Annamalai University are valid. Previously, the University Grants Commission (UGC) did not approve its courses starting from 2015. However, Annamalai University DDE received relief from the Madras High Court in an order dated 21.01.2023. Subsequently, following a reassessment by the UGC, Annamalai DDE achieved a qualifying score of 3.38, which led to extending the validity of its programmes until 2027.
