In general, students get admitted to most institutions and universities in India that offer a B.Sc. In Biotechnology depending on how well they performed on their qualifying test (Class XII or an equivalent). However, as part of the admissions procedure, certain institutions or universities may also have an entrance exam or an interview. Some schools and universities may provide direct admission to the B.Sc. In Biotechnology, however this generally depends on the number of seats available and the requirements established by the college or university. For direct admission, some institutions or universities may have special eligibility requirements that must be MET such as a minimum percentage of marks on the qualifying exam.

The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year in which admission is sought. The maximum age for admission shall be 35 years. The minimum educational requirements shall be 10 + 2 in Arts (Mathematics, Physics Chemistry Biology Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, and Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Science or Health care Science - Vocational stream ONLY passing out from recognised Board. Student shall be medically fit. Students qualified in 10+2 Arts or Science examination conducted by National Institute of Open School. Student shall be admitted once in a year.
