You can surely get admission through lateral entry after you complete your 3 year Diploma in BME or a related field. There are many colleges that offer this facility where you can directly enter the 2nd academic year of BTech BME course. You should have at least 50% marks in your Diploma final exams and clear relevant lateral entry admission tests.

Here is the basic list of documents that you should carry with you while going for the BTech BME admission process:

  • Class 12th mark sheet with at least 50 to 60% marks in the PCM/PCB/PCMB subjects
  • Provisional Mark sheet (if the original is not issued yet)
  • Class 10th mark sheet
  • A valid identity proof like Aadhar, PAN, Passport, etc.
  • Migration and Character Certificates (may be required)
  • Reserved Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • Photocopies of all the documents
  • Passport-size photos

While it is always good if you give the entrance exam for admission to BTech Biomedical Engineering course, it is not compulsory. There are several private BME colleges in India that offer admission to students on the basis of Class 12 board exam marks. These colleges mostly take extra rounds as well like the GD or PI rounds. There are more than 95 BTech BME colleges in India that consider the marks secured by students in Class 12 exams for giving admission.

Yes, you can easily get admission to B Tech Biomedical Engineering after the successful completion of Class 12 in PCMB subjects with a score of 55 percent marks. Some institutions may have higher eligibility requirements like 60% in case of Lovely Professional University, and 75% in case of the top IITs in the country.
