Anybody who has cleared Class 12 board examination in Science background with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology subjects and secured at least 50 to 60% marks can go ahead and apply for this course at several reputed institutions across country.
You will also have to clear entrance tests conducted at national/state/institution levels with a good rank to be able to get admission to best colleges such as IITs and NITs. It is important to note that minimum eligibility criteria is higher for these institutions, around 75% marks in Class 12.
Also many colleges and universities provide admission on basis of Class 12 marks as well. But, they usually conduct their own separate rounds of assessment in such cases.
There is no such strict age limit for opting for courses in Biomedical Engineering at popular academic institutions in India. But, looking at the previous admission processes for BME courses, students are usually between 18 years and 24 years at the time of admission.
Rest, some universities may have certain age requirements for admission, it is very less likely to happen though. If you are a bright student with a good academic record and have successfully cleared the entrance exam or other assessment rounds, you can apply for Biomedical Engineering courses.
