Give JEE Mains then see what rank you get. If you qualify give JEE advance if you don't get a decent rank in JEE Advanced but get decent rank in JEE Mains. Try taking admission in NIT / CFTIS / government aided colleges of states which accept JEE Mains score.

Lateral admission in 2nd year of engineering are invariably restricted to students of the state who have passed diploma. Some states conduct entrance exam while some states give admission based on marks obtained in diploma.

After diploma, you are entitled for lateral admission directly in 2nd year of engineering college in your state. Just keep track of announcements made by DTE of Tech Edu of your state in this regard.

Lateral admission to 2nd year of engineering after Diploma is invariably restricted to the students passed out in that state. It's normally based on marks in Diploma, but some states conduct entrance exam also.
