Anna University releases its admission notification in the leading newspaper and on the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission website.  The admission of students to all the programme is through a single window admission system, which is administered by the university. Among the best B.Tech colleges in India with total fees under Rs.6 Lacs include NIT Jamshedpur, which is approximately Rs. 5 lakh, NIT Hamirpur, which is about Rs. 5.5 lakh, and Jadavpur University, which is considerably less than Rs. 2 lakh.

Among the state-run colleges are College of Engineering, Pune (COEP), which charges maybe around Rs. 3-4 lakh. Other BIT Mesra extension campuses might also get included in Rs. 6 lakh. Admission into BIT BE programme takes place through the COMEDK UGET entrance exam. The eligibility criteria is a minimum aggregate of 45% in Class 12. The COMEDK UGET entrance exam takes place in the first week of May and the results are announced in the last week of May.
