So, basically your interest lies in Data Science and Finance. You can make your career as Quantitative Analyst, Derivatives Analyst, Hedge Funds, Risk Management, and Asset Liability Management etc. All these field requires the candidate who have excellent potential in Data Science [Programming (preferably Python, R, DAX), Data Mining, statistical and Financial modelling, Data Visualization, predictive analytics, Machine learning, deep learning etc.]. And, Financial Concepts [Fixed Income Securities, Portfolio management, corporate finance, credit risk management, VaR, Rating assessment models etc.).

Yes, both are different. Financial analytics in the finance function has to do with analysing the 3 big financial statements (the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows) within a company.
