Study options after BDS include Dental Hygiene, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontics, Pediatric Dentistry to name a few. You can either pursue a Graduate Diploma programme or Master degree programme on the basis of your academic background and interest.

After BDS, you can open a clinic and start your own general practice. But, you need money for that. You can also join someone else's clinic and gain some experience. But the best thing would be going for PG program in your own field. You can join an MDS course, this option is helpful if you want to go into academics and research.

I think that the visa are applicable in the same way in which students are allowed in the USA. First, the process of admission and then going in for visa may be common. Please, check with the Indian Consulate nearest to you.
