While entrance exam is not mandatory for Bharathiar University admissions, it is still one of the basic eligibility for most courses. The university accepts students on both merit and entrance basis. Depending on the programme, the admission criteria changes. If students are to apply for courses, such as MA, MCom, BCA, etc., then entrance is not needed.

The minimum eligibility requirement for B.A. Course admission is a class 12 or equivalent examination pass with a qualifying percentage. Candidates further must have been awarded the UG degree by a recognised board. The university also shortlists candidates for selection based on aggregate in Class 12/or equivalent exams. Further, aspirants must have the pass Certificate at the time of form filling and admission for verification.
