The School of Distance Education at Bharathiar University is well-regarded in terms of ranking. In the Times Higher Education Ranking for 2023, the university secured the position in the 801-1000 band among world universities and stands at the 44th position among Indian Universities. It also holds an overall ranking of 21 and is ranked 19 among other universities by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) . The university offers a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and professional courses and is provisionally recognised by the Distance Education Council (DEC) . 

The Bharathiar University is good for distance education or it is a valid course but placement is not good as such other public universities. It is good for placements as 798 PG students were placed and 71 UG students were placed out of total 1,195 students.

The median package offered was 6.60 LPA and 2.8 LPA.

If you already have a PhD degree in any discipline/ subject specialisation and want to pursue PhD in another discipline / subject specialisation, you can do so, provided you fulfil the condition as per admission regulations set by Bharathiar University. 

If the candidate wants to apply for more than one Institution / College /University Department, he/she has to pay the application fee for each application. (For example,  if the candidate belongs to OC/BC/MBC/DNC and willing to submit the application for three institutions, the aspirant has to pay the fee as INR 1000 * 3 = INR 3000).

The university has not specifically released the ranking for PhD. However, Bharathiar University is steadily securing good position in rankings among the top Universities in India. As per NIRF report 2023, the university stands at 21 position among Indian Universities and 36 position in the overall group, for the year 2023. As per Times Higher Education Ranking 2023, the University secured the position in the 801-1000 band. Among Indian Universities it stands at the 18 position.
