Both UGC NET and CSIR NET exam are held for the selection of assistant professor and JRF. And the minimum eligibility criteria is post-graduation degree. The candidates can apply for their post-graduation subject or its related subject only. As you have completed both MBA and M.Sc. You are eligible to apply for both UGC NET and CSIR NET. The NET exam consist of two papers. First paper is common for all the subject on the other hand the second paper of NET is based on the major subject of your post-graduation that you have applied for. So you must have deep knowledge of the subject. You should apply for the subject for which you have more interest. The UGC NET exam is organized for assistant professor selection in university and junior research fellow. The CSIR NET exam is also organized for the same purpose. The difference between both exams is that CSIR NET Exam is held for Science stream candidates while UGC NET Exam is held for commerce, arts and other stream candidates. The CSIR NET Exam is held for chemical Science, Physical Science, Mathematical Science, life Science and earth Science. The candidates can apply for their post-graduation subject or its related subjects only. As you have completed the M.Sc. In Biotechnology, you can apply for CSIR NET life Science subject. The other eligibility criteria is as follows:
Educational: You must have a post-graduation degree with more than 55%marks (for general category) from recognized university. Age limit: There is no age limit for assistant professor post but for NET JRF your age must be below 28 years. You are eligible to apply for your PG or its related subjects. To prepare for the exam, your study material must have cover whole syllabus including theory, questions relevant to topics, previous year papers and sample question papers.
