The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology was established in 1972 at BIT Mesra and is a robust scientific community with highly qualified and competent faculty members, postgraduate students, research fellows and visiting scientists. The Department is well-equipped with state of the art infrastructural facilities for teaching and research. The Department encourages and supports studies involving a range of research strategies which are supported by various national and international funding agencies like UGC, AICTE, DRDO, CSIR, ICAR, ICMR, DST, BMBF (Germany), UGC-UKIERI etc. The Department also has collaboration with Institute of Biochemistry, University of Luebeck, Germany; Laboratoire Architecture et Fonction des Macromelu00e9cules Biologiques, Du00e9partment de Viologie Structure et Drug Design, Marseille Cedex 09 France; De Montfort University, Leicester, UK and University of Turin, Italy, Department of Crystallography and Biophysics, University of Madras, Chennai, India for research in the area of antiviral agents.

The average package for CSE in 2017-18 was 12.35. The Campus Recruitment Programme of BIT has been strengthening and also nurturing value added relationships with recruiters across a wide spectrum of industries over the years. Every year new milestones are achieved which speak for the strength of the BIT student community as well as the diversity in academic programmes. During the year 2018-19, the Campus Recruitment Programme maintained its strong position with visits from 141 recruiters across all campuses and by achieving an overall target of 859 job offers.
