A few unofficial sources claim that the acceptance rate for MS in CS at BU is around 19%. This means that the university is very selective for the admission to MS in CS course. So, to get admission, students must have a strong background in Computer Science. Students with a CS Undergraduate degree can apply, but, the university welcomes those with equivalent computer training and experience. Application materials that are required to submitted are:
- Two recommendation letters
- Personal statement
- Academic transcripts
- Official GRE scores (Optional)
- English language proficiency scores

As an Indian student, you would be be required to submit academic transcripts with good scores. Other than that you would have to submit good scores in SAT, ACT, GRE or GMAT. To send your application in for UG courses, use the Common App. For PG courses, you can do that from the university website. Documents that have to be submitted include academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, essays, financial documents, etc.

For international students, Boston University acceptance rate is 11%. While the admission at the university is very competitive, there is no specific data for Visa success and rejection rate. The answer to the question whether BU is better than MIT is very subjective. The answer really depends on the students' preference and interests. Yes, Boston University's ranking has improved in the QS rankings in 2026. In the year 2026, the university's ranking is #88, in 2025, it was #108. The global ranking of the university provide the university in the top 6% of universities. In 2024, this university was at #93 position. BU has shown a great increase in the rankings.

Boston Uni does require you to provide valid scores in the GMAT or GRE. As to what score should you aim for, you can reference the average GMAT score for the Class of 2024 was around 701, while the mean GRE score was around 318.
