RGIPT follows the seat reservation policy for the BTech programme as per the Government of India directive. In addition, following the Government of India directive and to encourage technical education among the girls, few seats are reserved for female candidates on supernumerary basis over the current strength. However, certificates for SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL)/ PwD/ EWS category must be submitted during the time of admission.

A total of 610 students can pursue BTech programme offered at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology across various specialisations. RGIPT BTech seat reservation policy is as per the Government of India directive. RGIPT does provide merit-cum-means scholarships to the BTech programme students. RGIPT BTech scholarships also include several endowment scholarships. Students who are pursuing the BTech programme can avail various scholarships offered by the University, Central and State Governments. Some of the scholarships which can be availed by students are National Fellowship and scholarship for higher education of ST students, Post matric (Other than Intermediate) scholarship for ST, SC, General category students, Post matric (Other Than Intermediate) scholarship for Minorities, etc.

To join a four-year full-time BTech course at St.Joseph University, candidates need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place. Admission to this course is entirely merit-based. Candidates who passed Class 12 in a relevant stream from a recognised board are offered direct admission. The admission process is common for all BTech specialisations.

The candidates should have secured an aggregate of 50% marks in 10th class and 12th class with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects from a recognised board. The overall cutoff percentile for MAT is 70. University do not offer management quota unlike other private universities.
