BTech admission process at various VIT campuses, including VIT Chennai, begins with the application process for VITEEE for all specialisations, except BTech in Fashion Technology. The application process usually starts around November of the year preceding the admission year. The application process for the VIT Chennai BTech admission 2026 is currently ongoing. Interested candidates must apply online before the stutpulated deadline, i.e. March 31, 2026 (tentative).

Admission to the BTech in Fashion Technology at VIT Chennai is subject to the fulfilment of the preset eligibility and selection criteria. In order to secure admission, candidate must visit the official VIT website to apply online. Before applying, they must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria, which require applicants to have passed Class 12 or equivalent exam with a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The institute shortlists candidates based on their Class 12 merit, followed by Personal Interviews (PI) conducted in the hybrid mode.

Yes, BTech is available at VIT Chennai as a full-time, UG level course. The duration of the course is four years. The institute grants admission to candidates based on their VITEEE ranks (with an exception for BTech in Fashion Technology). The course is offered in various specialisations. No, you will not be able to get B.Tech CSE branch at MIET or GCET with 404 rank in JKCET exam because it will be competitive for CSE branch but you can go to other branches like mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering or electronic and communication engineering at MIET or GCET.
Other good college options are Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBUET) and Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology (SCET) , Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering.

Yes, you can get a chance in Calcutta University for B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering by applying for lateral entry programme by joining 2nd year based on your BSc degree. You must write entrance exam like WBJEE and get passed. The mimimum eligibility criteria is class 12th pass in physics, mathematics, or chemistry with a aggregate of 50%.
