CAT Counselling

The authority will conduct the CUSAT CAT counselling in online mode. However, shortlisted candidates have to report to the allotted college for document verification.

Cochin University is conducting the CUSAT CAT 2025 counselling in online mode. The CUSAT CAT counselling involves steps such as registration, option entry, seat allotment, fee payment and reporting to the allotted institute. Those who are participating in the counselling must adhere to the schedule for each event as released by the authorities.

No, securing a high CAT percentile is not enough for getting the final admission offer. Candidates have to fulfil other selection criteria such as performance in Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) and overall academic and professional profile.

Apart from the CAT scores, B-schools consider candidates' written and spoken communication skills through Written Ability Test or Essay Writing, Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds. The B-schools also consider candidates' overall profile such as past academic records, work experience and extracurricular activities or abilities. Candidates Class 12 scores and overall academic profile plays a decisive role in selection as institutes look for consistency in excellence.

The CAT counselling is expected to be released for a single round of seat allotment results to grant admission to qualified students in various PGDM programmes. This counselling includes various steps such as registration, choice filling, locking of choices and seat allotment. CAT counselling 2025 process is structured to allocate seats in various hotel management and catering technology programs to qualified candidates.

The final IIM admission result after IIM shortlist and WAT-PI is announced in April and May for all 20 IIMs. All the institutes release the final list of selected candidates individually and send admission letters to candidates via email. When the candidates receive the selection letter, they confirm admission by accepting the offer of admission letter and paying the admission fee. 

Yes, after being shortlisted for the WAT-PI round, candidates have to fill an online form expressing interest in participating in the WAT-PI round. The admission panel examines all the applications and then shortlist some candidates for WAT-PI round. Selected candidates are informed about date and venue of the WAT-PI round via email. Final selection is based on candidate's performance in WAT-PI and other parameters.

CAT exam score has the weightage of about 40-60 per cent in IIM shortlist. The weightage varies for each IIM but is in the range of 40-60 per cent. Rest of the weightage is divided between academics, gender and work experience. However, in the final shortlist, weightage of CAT score is less than that of WAT-PI. 

If you have a very good CAT score but poor academic record it is quite likely that you may not be shortlisted for top IIMs as the institutes prefer candidates with overall consistency in academics. Class 12 scores holds a lot of importance in shortlisting of candidates for WAT-PI.
