The selection process often starts with an application where the applicants need to submit an online or offline application form along with their academic transcripts, entrance exam scores, work experiences, and other documents. The applicants are shortlisted based on their scores in the Common Admission Test (CAT) or other management-accepted entrance exams. The minimum CT percentile required for MBA admission varies from year to year, but it will be normally around 70-80 percentile.

The shortlisted students are further invited to attend a Written aptitude Test (WAT), personal interview, or Group Discussion. The WAT assesses the applicant's writing skills, problem-solving skills, and analytical skills. The final selection is based on a holistic evaluation of the applicant's academic record, entrance exam scores, and WAT performance.

Selected students receive an admission letter, and upon acceptance, they are required to complete the admission process and pay the required fees.

However the MBA admissions process differs from college to college, most programs follow a few standard steps. The student needs to submit an application to the MBA programme to any of the preferred colleges, The majority of MBA programs mandate that candidates take a standardized admission exam, like the CAT or GMAT. The purpose of these tests is to evaluate your analytical, verbal, and quantitative skills, a personal interview may be conducted by the admission representatives to discuss your qualifications and goals, and a group discussion will be conducted to demonstrate your communication skills. To decide whether to admit you, the admissions committee will consider your application, results from the entrance exam, your performance in the group discussion, and your personal interview. 

Each college has a different minimum CAT percentile needed for admission to its MBA program. In general, though, you will be requiring a CAT percentile of at least 80% in order to be considered for admission to a prestigious MBA program. The top IIMs of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, and Lucknow required a minimum CAT percentile of 99.80+ last year.
