If you're aiming for non-IIM B-schools, all four exams — CAT, XAT, NMAT, and CMAT — can open good options depending on your target colleges. For example, NMAT is accepted by schools like Athena School of Management, NMIMS, and SP Jain Global, which focus on profile-based admissions and industry exposure.XAT and CAT are more competitive and suit those aiming for top-tier institutions, while CMAT and MAT are good for mid-range B-schools.Your choice should depend on your career goals, target institutes, and the type of MBA programme you want — whether corporate-focused, analytical, or global.

The cut-offs at Altera Institute are indicative in nature and may vary each year based on applicant quality and competition. For the 2025 intake, the indicative benchmarks were CAT 80 percentile+ NMAT 210+, and XAT 80 percentile+. Final shortlisting depends on the overall profile, academics, work experience, and interview performance. Strong profiles with high growth potential are considered even if slightly below these ranges.

No, scores of CAT are not essential to get admission at the MBA programme of Amrita School of Business, Kochi. Because the institute accepts many other entrance examination scores, likewise, ACAT/ CAT/ XAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ KMAT. Thus, students with scores in CAT can get admission to the programme. But it is not compulsory.

MBA admissions at KJSIM require students to have a valid UG degree from a recognised university. Students must a minimum of 50% aggregate in their degree. Further, admissions are based on CAT/XAT/GMAT/NMAT (Only 1st attempt will be considered)/CMAT entrance exams. Candidates must practice the past NMAT question papers and various other question papers.
