Yes, there is negative marking of -1 in the Quantitative Aptitude section of CAT, but only for MCQ type questions. There is no negative marking for non-MCQ type questions. The CAT Quantitative Aptitude section is the only section that has non-MCQs. So, candidates can take a chance with non-MCQs in this section and attempt it even if they are not 100% sure. For getting 99 percentile in Quantitative Aptitude section of CAT, one needs 32 to 34 marks. So, out of 22 questions, 10 to 12 correct attempts will be good. There is negative marking so candidates must choose questions carefully. They must aim for 85% accuracy.

The university may not release the cutoff details in public domain. As per past years' data, the CAT percentile cutoff has been 70 for the overall category. Candidates with a cutoff equal to or better than the prescribed percentile become eligible for admission.
