Yes, it is quite an important task. It is important because the stream that has been selected by a student, to an extent, will influence the professional course that he/she will pursue after completing class 11th and 12th standards. And, the professional course, in turn, will decide the career that he/she may build after graduation. If you are very weak in Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology), you will have a tough time facing the subjects present in Science stream. This is why choosing a stream according to one's aptitude is necessary. But, without knowing details about the streams (such as subjects, difficulty level, career paths etc.), you won't be able to find out which one of them suits you best! There are three important stream in India. They are-
Science Stream
Commerce Stream
Arts Stream
Science stream is a very popular choice among 10th standard passed students in India. Students who want to pursue pure and applied Science professional courses in the future may choose this stream. Commerce stream opens doors that lead to professional courses, which acts like foundations! For example, consider B.Com. (Bachelor of Commerce) course. This 3 years long undergraduate Degree programme is like a foundation course. After completing it, one may choose from a wide variety of PG professional courses and specialize in many other fields/areas. Arts stream offers numerous career options and opportunities to students. It is a very traditional stream. This is one of the main reasons why this stream still has got takers in India! This stream is made up of parts like humanities, visual arts, performing arts, literary arts etc. At the end of the field trip, if you are satisfied with the work environment and nature of the work, you may go ahead with the stream that will lead you to that career. If you are not satisfied (reasons could be many- personal, medical etc.), do consider other streams.
