Yes, it is definitely okay to drop a year for CAT preparations but if you work hard for it, not just for fun because CAT is not an exam which can be qualified easily. This exam is conducted to check the capability and Eligibility of a student who want to study in IIM and B business colleges. So, if you can consume work time, you can do it but if you cannot qualify that a drop will not be good for you.
Good luck.
Thank you.

Hello Akshay, chances of conversion totally depend on your GD-PI performance on the day. The various weights assigned to the stages in the process are as follows :
1. CAT percentile: 65%.
2. PI: 20%.
3. GD:10%.
4. Work experience: 5%.
So don't worry and concentrate on giving your best during the process! All the best!

The list for the batch of 2018-20 is already out. If you have applied please check here:

Also, 76% is a low percentile but the ultimate convert depends on the SI score which takes into consideration a lot of other parameters as well.
Try to score more than 90 percentile to get the interview call.

Hello Sir,
It is not important that every 12th passing student goes for engineering or medical. Now a days job in engineering is really less jobs as if a student is unable to get good college then it is really difficult for them to get job in future. As you said your son is interested in story writing and film making and if you see he would really do better in this field then there are many course for film making such as B.Sc. In VFX, B.Sc. In Animation, B.Sc. In Film Making and many more. And here also lot of scope which does not need any backup it just need a talent. Famous college who provide this course are
