The average salary is estimated to be anywhere between INR 2.5 LPA and INR 15 LPA for MBBS doctors, while IAS officers are expected to get an estimated 14 LPA.
However, what doctors and IAS officers earn may be entirely different for a host of other reasons.
High earnings are commanded by doctors, more so those with specialised skills or those in private practice, often exceeding the levels commanded by IAS officers. The earnings chart is headed by surgeons, specialist doctors, and doctors in high-demand fields.
While the salaries of IAS officers are ever-increasing, their starting salary is quite less as compared to doctors working in a private sector. But the scales get tilted in favor of an IAS officer because of the addition of too many allowances and perks that provide security and stability to the job.

BA LLB can be helpful for IAS in several ways:

1. Legal Knowledge: Strengthens students’ grasp of law, constitution, legal institutions which are significant for those in the IAS as policy makers, administrators and governors.

2. Analytical Skills: Prepares students for critical evaluation and successful problem solving by providing them with tools that will be effective in decision making.

3. Communication Skills: Strengthens the areas of writing, presentation, and public speaking which are crucial for leadership in administration and for interacting with the public.

4. General Studies: Courses such as history, political science, and economics, taught in BA LLB, fall in the IAS General Studies syllabus giving a preliminary edge in preparation.

A total of 1056 positions are expected to be open for UPSC CSE in 2024, 40 of which are designated for candidates with baseline disability categories. On May 26, 2024, the IAS Exam for the 2024 preliminary round will be held. The IAS 2024 application must be completed by applicants who are at least 21 years old and no older than 32. As of August 1, 2024, the candidates must be at least 21 years old and under 32 years old, meaning they must have been born between August 2, 1991, and August 1, 2002. Details about the UPSC Age Limit 2024 will be included in the official notification.Only about 180 applicants are chosen annually through the UPSC Civil Service Examination to join the Indian Administrative Services (IAS).
