As per the official website of Kaziranga University, it accepts the exam scores of national-level entrance exam, such as JEE and State CEE. The university also takes admission through the Kaziranga University Entrance and Scholarship Test (KUEST). However, having a JEE score is not mandatory for BTech admission at the university as it is not the only accepted exam.

At the of admisison to BTech course at Kaziranga University, selected candidates are required to submit the first-semester tuition fee for their chosen specialisation. Additionally, they must pay the registration fee of INR 10,000 and admission fee of INR 25,000, which is the same for all specialisatios. The exact admission dates for admission to the BTech programme of Kaziranga University are not released yet. Aspirants are required to pass Class 12 with relevant Science subjects and a minimum required score to be eligible for admission. Hence, it can be said that aspirants must apply soon after their Class 12 results are released to avoid missing the deadline. Depedning on their chosen specialisations, they may be required to apply for JEE/Assam CEE/KUEST. Hence, they must acquaint themselves with important dates related to these exams. The KUEST is conducted by the university in May/June (tentatively) every year.

The duration for BTech (Lateral Entry) courses is 3 years and the course fee ranges between INR 1.8 Lacs and INR 3.9 lakh. Candidates who meet the following eligibility criteria can take admission directly to the second year of the BTech course:
- Applicants must have passed Class 12 with Mathematics as a subject
- They must have a Diploma in an appropriate branch of Engineering or a BSc degree from a recognised University, with at least 45% (40% in case of SC/ST category)

To be eligible for BTech admission at Kaziranga University, applicants must have passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational as one of the subjects. They must have obtained at least 45% in the above subjects taken together. The minimum aggregate scored required for SC/ST candidates is 40% as a relaxation of 5% is provided to them. Additionally, the university may require applicants to have qualified in one of the accepted entrance exams, such as JEE, Assam CEE and KUEST.
