To get admission at the University of Toronto, International students are required to satisfy admission requirements. For MS programs international students require an appropriate bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a final-year average of at least mid-B from a recognised university. However, some general admission requirements are common for most of the master’s courses and will depend on the country of origin of the student. Admission requirements for Indian students:

• Minimum GPA: First Class/Division or 8.0/10 or 7.5/10 from the Indian Institute of Technology
• Bachelor’s Equivalent: Bachelor’s degree, requiring a minimum of four years of study or completion of both a Bachelor’s (3-year) degree and Master’s degree.
• Masters Equivalent: MPhil, MTech, MEng, MSc
• GRE/GMAT
• Letter of Recommendation
• Interview
• Statement of Purpose
• IELTS/TOEFL/DET

To get admission, the applicants are required to meet Toronto University admission requirements. These admission requirements are given below:

Undergraduate Courses

• All India Senior School Certificate awarded by CBSE / Indian School Certificate awarded by CISCE. Class 12 State Board exams with excellent results shall also be considered on an individual basis
• Note that CBSE students who want to study programs that need Calculus for admissions, like Business, Engineering, and Science programs, must present Class 12 Standard Mathematics for admission consideration
• Class 12 Applied Mathematics (Old and New syllabus) shall not meet the Calculus requirement

Graduate Courses

• For master’s programs, the applicants must have an appropriate bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent with a final-year average of at least mid-B from a recognised university
• For doctoral programs, an appropriate master’s degree, or its equivalent, with an average of at least B+ or demonstrated comparable research competence is required. Some departments directly admit students to a doctoral programme from a bachelor’s degree (Minimum average A- required)

Having around 43% acceptance rate the University of Toronto is very selective in admissions. Students are evaluated based on their academic history; some programs require supplementary applications, auditions or profiles. If English is not your first language, then you are required to demonstrate your proficiency in the English language. The application form that you will fill out for admission to undergraduate courses at the University of Toronto will depend on whether you are a current Ontario high school student, an applicant from another Canadian Province or an International applicant.

Things to keep in Mind:

• International applicants can use the University of Toronto International Application portal.
• International students who want to apply to other universities in Ontario in addition to the University of Toronto should use the OUAC 105 application.
• If you have already applied with OUAC 105 application, you are not required to apply to the U of T with the International application
• If you submit both applications, your second application will be cancelled without a refund
• For graduate courses, Toronto University application can be submitted through the university's online interface
