ITM Institute of Hotel Management does not have a ragging culture. The college premises have strict laws against the students found guilty of any act such as abusing, assaulting, threatening, teasing and embarrassing new students, among others. The College ensures the safety and security of its students through well-defined protocols. Admission to ITM Institute of Hotel Management is merit-based, with selection for the BSc programme based on Class 12 academic performance, grooming, general awareness, and interview performance, rather than a separate entrance examination. The programmes must appear for a Written Ability Test (WAT) conducted by the institute, followed by a Personal Interview (PI) round. For admission to the Diploma programme.

IHM Chennai and IHM Chandigarh both accept the scores of NCHMT MSc JEE for admissions to MSc courses. Hence, the admission process is almost similar for both institutions, as the first requirement is that candidates must complete their graduation with an aggregate of 55%; then they must appear for the NCHMT MSc JEE, followed by counselling. Therefore, it is hard to determine which institute is easier to get admission into MSc courses.

However, applicants can compare the two institutes by their cutoffs from here: IHM Chandigarh cutoff and IHM Chennai cutoff.
