GPA (Grade Point Average) is used for grading for a single semester while CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) accumulates the total marks and total credits across all the semesters.
The exams are run in same fashion as in schools and colleges where the maximum marks would be 100. Out of 100, its made into sections of different marks which differ from university to university.

If there are unforeseen circumstances, you must present a good justification and/or evidence for your absence in order to be taken into consideration.
Your final grades for a given semester heavily favour internal grades. If you perform well in the university final exams, a good internal grade of roughly 8.5 to 8.5 or perhaps more may be yours.
