Shantaben Manubhai Patel School of Studies & Research Architecture & Interior Design (SMAID), was established in 2012 as an affiliated institute to SPU, Vallabh Vidyanagar. The institute provides a wide range of architecture and interior design undergraduate and graduate courses. Merit-based admission to the SMAID is determined in addition to entrance exam results. Furthermore, SMAID offers good infrastructure with state of art facilities to give students the best possible environment. In addition, the SMAID faculty members have extensive expertise and are graduates of recognised universities. The scores of the candidates in NATA entrance exam determines their admission to the B.Arch programme at SMAID.

The eligibility requirements for IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.) did not involve a minimum percentage or marks in Class 12 for the majority of participating institutes. The eligibility criteria for IIT JAM are largely concerned with the bachelor's degree and the minimum marks or CGPA necessary to secure in that degree.

Candidates for the IIT JAM must have a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 55 per cent aggregate or 5.5 CGPA/CPI. Apart from it, candidates also need to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admissions. Candidates found unfit to pursue his/her science course can be denied admission by the admitting institute.
