Established in 1969 jointly by the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka, the IHM Bangalore is a public institute that is affiliated with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT).

Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bangalore accepts Class 12 with 50% aggregate for admission to undergraduate i.e., B.E. courses. Further, to be eligible for admission candidates are required to apply and appear for the accepted entrance exam such as COMEDK UGET, and KCET.
