Well, as much as I know about MBA here at IIT kgp, not IITK*. CAT is the criteria for MBA course offered by Vinod Gupta School of Management. you can drop any further queries, I will try to find out about MAT in a couple of days.

IIT, Kanpur in no way is a better choice than IIT, Kharagpur due to various reasons.
IIT, Kanpur students enjoy lots of freedom and can feel independent as the college administration makes you feel mature enough to take rational judgements whereas norms are strict at IIT, Kharagpur.
IIT, Kanpur has an average placement of 12 LPA and highest reaching up to 23 LPA whereas in IIT, Kharagpur it is 10.5 LPA, highest reaching up to 19 lakh.
Although, the labs and all other equipment related facilities are remarkable in both the institutes but still, Kanpur campus is more vibrant than Kharagpur consisting a pool of talented minds in it.

Hi there,
Both are the top-notch colleges for CSE, but for being an IIT, I will favor IIT-KGP as it is much better.
Here is a comparison between them:

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is one of the best government colleges in India and it ranks in top 5 colleges of India.
It has to offer many courses out of which industrial engineering course offered by IIT Kharagpur has about
120 seats to the students.
IIT Kharagpur is known for its infrastructure and knowledgeable faculties with about 5 to 10 years of experience teaching in college. Facilities provided by the college are really good like Wi-Fi Sports Complex and labs with better equipment and machines.

This year's placement stats of every IIT were influenced by the Make in India campaign of the Indian Government and because of this campaign, not only the number of core companies increased but it also embarked enthusiasm for core companies among students. This initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi meant that the institutes give early slots to core companies over non-core ones.
