The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is a government institute of journalism in New Delhi. It was established in 1965 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
IIMC is considered one of the top mass communication and media institutes in India. It has been ranked number one media institute in the country by IndiaToday, Outlook, and The Week-Hansa for the years 2018–2022. Some say it is the best mass communication institute in India.
IIMC offers industry-oriented courses in mass media and has a good placement record. Around 75% of the batch gets placed every year.

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in Aizawl, Mizoram selects candidates based on their performance in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the CUET.
The IIMC entrance exam is a two-hour, 100-question multiple-choice test. The questions cover general knowledge, general aptitude, and some media and communication topics.

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in Aizawl offers PG Diploma programs in the following areas:
- Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism (English)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Media
IIMC's original mandate was to be a "Centre for Advanced Study in Mass Communication". It is responsible for consultation, training, and research and development, particularly in the use of mass communication in support of national economic and social development.
IIMC does not offer undergraduate courses. Admission to IIMC is only possible after completing graduation.

The step-wise admission process for BTech programme is given below:
1. For BTech admission at NSEC, candidates need to clear JEE Mains along with Class 12th in the relevant discipline.
2. After clearing the JEE Main exam candidates need to apply to the counselling process through online mode from the website.
3. Submit the counselling fee during registration.
4. Fill the choices of institutions & branches as per preferences. The seat will be allotted on the basis of rank, filled choices, category, availability of seats, etc.
5. After seat allotment, report to the allotted college in a given time period.
