MANIT is undoubtedly a good government college. It is centrally funded and one of the 31 NITs of India. It is the institute of national importance.

CSE is undoubtedly the better branch at MANIT. If you consider academics, it's pretty much the same as all the other NITs. This year nearly 75% students got placement offers. Big firms like MS, Google, and Epic Systems visit the campus, so if you're a hard worker then you have bright prospects.

It's great indeed to know your dream of becoming an engineer. Good. Lateral entries in 2nd year of engineering are normally restricted by concerned states only to students from that state. Also if you score good, then you will have better chances.
