The criterion of getting into Datta Meghe College of Engineering (DMCE) at Mumbai is the MHT-CET or JEE Main for undergraduate degree courses such as B.Tech. The MHT-CET qualifying marks also reduce every year, which stands between 85%-95% percentile for courses like Computer Engineering or Electronics. Similar to M.Tech, admissions for many other postgraduate programs are awarded based on the GATE score. For the year 2023 the percentile score for the computer engineering was approximately 90 % for the MHT-CET. The college has been having a less number of seats and the better rank holders will get admission in to the best branches of the college. Both eligibility status and rank qualifications have to be met to ensure successful admission.

As for the actual canteen/food services the college does not own a hostel so they do not have a hostel mess within their campus. Even though private hostels and PG accommodations nearby the campus provide food facilities. It is common with these hostels to report that they always offer clean and cheap meals and have standard food services like breakfast, lunch or dinner. The quality of food is usually described as being average, whereas the cost range from Rs 2000 to Rs. 4000 per month for a meal plan depending on the housing. Food quality and perceived personal tastes are some of the most popular reasons students select their place of residence.

The cut off percentages obtained in the JEE Main or MH-CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test) are taken as the criteria for admitting students in the B.E./B.Tech. programme offered in Datta Meghe College of Engineering. For admission, the candidates have to clear Class 12 examination with minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC) marks in Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics aggregate. The colleges conduct admissions through the Centralized Admission Process of the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra. To be precise, these cut-off scores change annually, and also, depending on the category. Direct admissions can be given under management seat also, but only after the condition laid down by AICTE and Maharashtra state government are met.

It is to be noted that Datta Meghe College of Engineering does not have any in-campus hostels. Usually, students find a private hostel or a paying guest accommodation facility in or around the campus. According to him students should take some time and move around the accommodations physically in order to have some feel of the facilities and the rates that have to be paid.

• Be a graduate from a UGC-recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved category) 
• Have appeared for at least one of the following exams: CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, or MAH CET 
• Undergo a group discussion and personal interview
