The University of Teknologi Malaysia accepts international applications through the UTM Application system SMARt (Official Application Portal) available on the university's website. Once a candidate has applied to the university and submitted all the required documents, it takes the university about 5 working days to process applications and then send out admission offers. Students must note that they need to fulfill all the Uni Teknologi Malaysia entry requirements in order to get admitted in the university.

In order to secure admission, all international students must fulfill the University of Teknologi Malaysia admission requirements listed below:
1) Undergraduate Requirements:
- A Senior High School Certificate or equivalent pre-university qualifications;
- Proof of English Proficiency; and
- Interview (only for Bachelor of Architecture & Bachelor of Science Industrial Design).
2) Graduate Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree with good honors from any institution of higher learning recognised by the Senate (or equivalent);
