NIOS On-Demand Examination: The NIOS also launched the concept of NIOS ODE (On-Demand Examination), wherein the students can take the examination when they are prepared for it. There will not be any set time or schedule for the students to take the exam. The concept was first introduced in 2003 at the secondary level and proved to be a great step in the direction of flexibility and distance learning. It made the total system of examination independent of the time frame, further helping the students to perform better as they could take the examination as per their wish. After witnessing success at the secondary level, the concept was re-introduced in 2007 at the senior secondary level. Currently, on-demand examinations are being conducted at the National Institute of Open Schooling headquarters in Noida and at its regional centers at the secondary and senior secondary levels. The on-demand examination result is declared and published through the National Institute of Open Schooling website during the last week of every month for the examinations conducted in the preceding month. Pass and Certification Criteria
1- Course: Secondary Course
Pass Criteria: A minimum of 33 percent marks in the aggregate (Theory and Practicals both are applicable) in the public examination. Certification Criteria: Pass in 5 subjects including at least one but not more than two languages
2- Course: Senior Secondary Course
Pass Criteria: A minimum of 33 percent marks (separately in theory and Practicals in subjects having both and also in aggregate) in the public examination. Certification Criteria: Pass in 5 subjects including at least one but not more than two languages. Five subjects with either one or two languages from Group A and the remaining subjects from Group B, C, D, E, and F (only one subject from each group C, D, E, and F).
