Both Food processing and industrial design are different. So it solely depend on you that if you are interested to know the techniques behind food processing as well as gain knowledge for it then just move on for food processing engineering in NIT Rourkela. It is a new branch started in NIT Rourkela and very soon it has gained tremendous popularity in the mean time. It has hold a good placement record instead of a new branch. The placements of NIT Rourkela is good. The average placement of the college is around 6-7 LPA. Mostly, all the student got placed. Last year, the highest package was 29 LPA which is offered by Amazon. Many core and analytical company visit every year. Around 90-100% of the students got placed. In NITJ, placements of Industrial and Production is comparable to mechanical, which is pretty good. Lot of good MNCs come to NITJ for recruitment. Usually number of offers are higher than number of students. And given a choice in between NIT Rourkela and Jalandhar, Rourkela has got better ranking, hence should be preferred. Well, for getting admission into the college NIT Rourkela, you need to qualify class 12 board exam and the JEE Mains exam. Based on your score and rank you can apply for any branch of your interest in NIT Rourkela. The criteria For candidates to qualify for admissions to NITs/IIITs/GFTIs, they should have secured at least 75% marks in class 12th exam or be in the top 20 percentile in class 12th exam conducted by the respective boards,for General students. For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility criteria is 65% marks in class 12th.The rank in JEE Mains should be Home State: Rank - 25570 and Other State: Rank - 16412 . NIT Rourkela is ranked 15th by NIRF in 2018. The placement is also good over here. Many companies visit here like ABB , Amazon ,amdocs, Aricent, CapGemini, Cummins, Del,l Ericsson India, Essar Cellular, Future Group, Futures, First Goldman Sachs, Hindustan Unilever, HP ,IBM, Infosys, L T Lafarge, Microsoft, Musigma Patni, Pepsi, Reliance, SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC, Wipro etc visit the campus and recruits many students.

As you scored 53% and you belong to SC background you can get admission in any of the colleges. But it is difficult for getting admission into NITs and IITs. as per new rule , the new eligibility criteria for getting admission in NIT is having minimum 75% in board 12th exam and the merit of this year is expected above 150 marks in JEE; for General students.For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility criteria is 65% marks in class 12th. So its quite difficult to get admission in NIT. But there are many other colleges with similar rankings where you can get admission very easily. So there is lot of opportunity where you can excel in your life. Just study hard and fulfill your dreams. You can get admission in colleges like Birla institute of technology and science, Anna university, Alliance College of Engineering and Design, Alliance University, Anekal, Bangalore, Vellore institute of technology, college of engineering, pune etc

All the NITs are equally good and holds a good placement record as well. NIT Rourkela is good enough for Computer Science and engineering. It has a good infrastructure, and good faculty members as well. It holds a good placement record. The companies like Dell, Microsoft, SAP Labs, Direct, PwC India, Goldman Sachs, HP, NCR Corporation, Oracle Apps, Cloud, Financial Services, Samsung, Ericsson So placement wise its good that's the only thing that matters in the end and academics wise it completely depends on you. The average package is around 7-8 LPA. The highest package is around 11-12 LPA which can also increase more. In NIT Allahabad the average package is around 8 LPA ; NIT Kurukshetra also has average package of 7-8 LPA. NIT Jaipur also has average package of 7-8LPA. The highest package of all is 12 LPA, it increases to more also depending on the company which visit. Hence All the college of NIT is good enough. It solely depends on you in which field you want to pursue your career. If you are interested for Food processing and want to discover the technology beyond it, you should opt for Food processing in NIT Rourkela. And if you are interested upon clothing and textile industry and technology behind that, then you should opt for textile technology. Hence you must decide in which field you are interested. Both are very different from each other and has their own importance in their respective fields. Both the fields are emerging more and more and their demand has also increased to the utmost level. NIT Rourkela has utmost importance for engineering and it is increasing more day by day. Some of the core companies visiting the campus for placement are Milk Mantra, IDMC, Tetra Pak, etc. Some of the non-core companies visiting the campus for placement are ZS Associates, TCS, EXL Services, Tredence, Affine Analytics, etc. The average package is 8LPA and the highest goes upto 10 LPA or more. Hi,
When its about B.tech in any stream NIT Rourkela comes out to be the best.When you say about Ceramic Engineering in NIT Rourkela and look upon the past records , you would not be much satisfied. But with the changing scenario, Ceramic engineering is doing pretty well and its demand is also increasing day by day.
Although there was a time when placements in department of ceramic engineering was inappropriate, but now with time and changing scenario, number of core companies like Vedanta, TRL, OCL etc. visit NIT Rourkela to recruit. Also there is the provision for every department students to sit for companies from IT sector(TCS, IBM etc. ) as well as analytics(Affine, ZS Associates etc). So overall placements in Ceramic engineering is quite good.
As the number of Ceramic Engineers is quite less than other Streams, So if you are talented enough you will definitely grab a job while leaving NIT.
The students are getting an average package of 7-8 LPA , it increases eventually.
Students are also doing pretty well in GATE.
Hence the branch is doing well and its demand is increasing day by day.

Congrats for your good rank. According to past records, the cut-off for mechanical engineering in NIT Rourkela is around 14000 to 15000. So, yes, there is more chance of getting mechanical engineering branch which you have chosen. You have the caliber as well as the rank which is mostly needed. So you can easily get admission easily into the college. NIRF ranking 2018 has figured NIT Rourkela at 15th position in Engineering category and 42nd position in Overall against last year's Overall position at 46th. NIT Rourkela is the best educational institute, along with it is improving a lot in all fields. It has a good infrastructure, best faculty, imparts best education to students. It gives 100% placements to students. The placement of the mechanical branch is quite good at NIT Rourkela. Some of the core companies like Tata steel, Vedanta, Tata motors, Maruti - Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra and many more visit our campus every year and recruit meritorious students as Graduate engineer Trainees. Sometimes PSUs also come NIT Rourkela because it is one of the top NITs. Some PSUs like Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) also visited.
