Off-campus is much cheaper than on-campus. On campus has its own security deposit which is around INR 15 Lacs which is much costlier for an Indian student. Food is also costlier in the university so I suggest to prefer off campus.

You can prefer going to univeristy daily which increases the connectivity and from that you will be able to find the roomates and group of friends. There are many friends in the hostel or an apartment which is also a easier way to find the roomates.

Firstly Indian students should do research on which area is cheaper or budget friendly according to their budget. Have a look on scholarships, education loan, and financial aid from the university. Students should prefer shared accomodation in the group of four. Dont waste food and cooking itself is more needed for Indian students as food in the restaurant is costly.
