How is Mercer University?

Mercer University, located in Macon, Georgia, is a private university known for its strong academic programs, vibrant campus life, and commitment to community service. Here are some key points about Mercer:

I wish you could be a little bit more specific. I was a rising sophomore this year major in Computer Science, and here my (might be irrelevant) take:

Excellent support academically. I was asked for when I was absent, and when my friend were absent. The professor knows names of the students in the class and track their performance.

My professor in CS department told me that Mercer focus much more on teaching than researching and they did exactly that. Dr Andy Digh is spectacular in that aspect. Have a trouble at 1.30 a.m. Flick an email and expect a reply at 1.32 a.m. Yes, Dr. Digh did that. Several times.

If you go to office hours, especially Math, you can see a lot of students just camp there doing homework, like high school :)

Opportunity to do serious “individual study” with professor. A friend of mine was interested in a field. His professor created an “individual study” course for him to get credit. I also was working in a project with a professor last trimester (although it failed) and am going to have undergraduate research going next year ( as sophomore)

People are friendly. A lot of things going on.

You can loan book for 3 months. And then renew it for another 3 months. You can also loan it from interlibrary resources, which are basically free (Mercer cover you 15$/ book, I have never got a book that I have to pay). It's pretty sweet!

Study room everywhere. Board, marker, and eraser already ready.

The fact that most of student lives and eat together means that you get bonding fast. I have been to public school and have heard many stories from my friend who went to big public school about their being left alone and no one helps them. It does not happen here.

Now the bad side is:

Expensive. Housing. Food. Everything. As Mercer excels in teaching and helping student, it also excels in making money.

There's a lot of complain about housing this year. Mostly management.

There's not a lot of things to do downtown, which might be a plus.

Phillips Graduate University could be a better choice over National Louis University if you are interested in specialised programs in psychology and counseling, as it offers focused training in these areas. It's particularly strong for those aiming for careers in mental health and counseling. On the other hand, National Louis University offers a wider range of programs across various fields, which might be suitable if you are looking for more diversity in course offerings.

Location also matters—Phillips, based in California, provides access to a larger mental health job market, whereas NLU, in Illinois, may appeal to those interested in the Midwest. Costs and financial aid options should also be considered before making your choice.

Apply for studying scholarships in the USA as early as 8-12 months prior to your anticipated date. Each scholarship has differing requirements to qualify and apply: there are those offered by specific universities, government programs including Fulbright, and a plethora of private organizations providing them. Prepare all the required documents, often including academic transcripts, standardized test scores (SAT, GRE), proof of English language proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL), and sometimes a statement of purpose or recommendation letters. Enhance the opportunities by applying for the suitable scholarships to your profile. In addition, follow up with the providers and ensure the scholarship received and confirm any further actions.

The opinions for PGDM in SCSU are mostly positive. A lot of students like that the faculty members are well knowledgeable and the atmosphere is learning-friendly, thus having a good relationship between the professors and the students. The university is very practical in education, especially in business, as it has 98% graduates who are employed after graduation. However, some students have criticized the career services. Campus life is full of extracurricular activities; therefore, the whole experience is so much richer. SCSU is not one of the most prestigious universities, but it provides great education and excellent opportunities for personal growth.
