It has an average placements record
Only the consistent and high scorers get placed.
But, scope of internship is good.
Almost all get selected for internship but for heavy paycheck you need good scorer.

I can say that both the institutions are renowned in terms of providing better education for the students. But to some extent, IIT-Kharagpur provides you better placement as compared to IIT-Kanpur.
