IIM Calcutta is one of the top IIMs of India with a rank of 5 under the 'Management' category by NIRF. Getting admission to IIMC is competitive due to limited number of seats. The requirement for getting admission in its flagship programme i.e. MBA is qualifying CAT and fulfiling the eligibility requirements. The minimum aggregate required in graduation is 50%. Hence, aspirants scoring less than it will find it difficult even if they pass CAT. Aspirants have to pass every selection round for admission to MBA. Selected candidates have to further come for personal interview round.

Depending on the cutoff of the year you appeared for JELET with an SC category rank of 238, chances of getting into the mechanical branch of the government colleges lie. Candidates belonging to SC category have been obtaining ranks of 150-200 in the recent years in Jadavpur University for the Mechanical engineering stream, so your rank can be little higher than the cutoffs usually observed. Kalyani University which has comparatively relaxed cut off requirements may offer better opportunities, the cutoff for SC category in Mechanical engineering is roughly in the range of 220-250.
