The National Institute of Design will release the admit cards for the DAT Mains for the B. Des program tentatively in the 2nd week of April 2025.

The admit cards will be released online at the admission portal of NID.

To download the admit card, you need to login by using your email id and date of birth.

On the day of the DAT Mains exam, you need to bring the admit card and a valid photo id proof. The DAT Mains exam for the B. Des program will be conducted around the last week of April 2025.

Yes, if you belong to any reserve category, then it is necessary to upload the required category Certificate. The documents have to be uploaded at the time of filling out the NID application form. Note that candidates trying to use counterfeit documents may be disqualified at any stage of the admission process if caught. The NID DAT counseling will also have a document verification process. The counseling process for the B. Des and M.Des programme will commence soon after the results are declared.

The NID DAT 2026 Mains exam for B. Des comprises a Studio Test. The Studio Test is conducted in offline mode.  Meanwhile, DAT Mains for the M.Des programme comprise a Studio Test and an Online Interview. The Studio Test and Interview were conducted in offline mode.

The counseling for NID DAT 2024 is conducted separately for the B. Des and M.Des programs.

The choice filling (selection of campuses) for the B. Des programme was conducted from May 21-23, 2024 (4 pm). This was followed by allotment of seats on May 29-31, 2024.

In case of the M.Des programme, there was no option to select campuses. Candidates were directly allocated seats between April 30 and May 14, 2024. Candidates who were allotted seats had to pay the seat confirmation fee and upload essential documents to complete admission formalities.

The final results of NID DAT 2026 will be prepared by considering the weighated score of the candidate in DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. Note that only such candidates who have qualified in DAT Prelims will be allowed to appear in DAT Mains. The National Institute of Design announces the weightage for the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

As per the official notification, the DAT Prelims will carry 40% and DAT Mains will carr 60% weightage for the B. Des programme. In case of M.Des programme, DAT Prelims carries 30% weightage, while DAT Mains carries 70% weightage.

NID DAT application form is closed for 2026-2027.

To register for NID DAT, candidate has to 

  1. Get registered:  Candidate had to get registered using their email ID and mobile number.
  2. Log-in and fill the form - Fill in all the necessary sections in the form: academic, personal, and contact details. Also, select an exam centre of your choice.
  3. Upload documents - Follow specified format and specification when uploading documents like photographs and signatures.
  4. Pay the exam fee to complete the application process. NID DAT 2026 fee is expected to be around Rs. 3000 for open, and Rs. 1500 for reserved-category candidates. A late fee of 5

CUET eligibility requirement:
For appearing in the CUET (UG) - 2023, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12 /equivalent examination or are appearing in 2023 irrespective of their age can appear in CUET (UG) - 2023 examination. However, the candidates will be required to fulfill the age criteria (if any) of the University / Institution / organisation in which they are desirous of taking admission. Minimum eligibility to apply for B.A. (Hons.), B.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons.) programs is 10+2 from a recognized board.
Applicants to PG Diploma and M.Sc. program must hold Bachelors Degree from a recognized University.
Candidates looking for admission to PG Diploma in Game Development must hold B.E./ B.Tech./ MCA/ M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Computer Science as a specialization.
