Although it is not necessary to have full-time work experience to apply, most students have worked full-time for two to five years before attending. There is a very small number of outstanding applicants with less than one year of full-time experience. The average work experience of the 2025 and 2026 classes is 5.4 and 5.3, respectively.

At Cornell University, a 660-740 GMAT score is usually desired by students for MBA admissions. Cornell University has not classified GMAT scores. The median GMAT score for the class of 2024 and 2025 is 710.  It is important to note that the GMAT or GRE is just one of many factors in a holistic admissions review process.
