Cosmetology is an area of study and a career that focuses on hair, skin, and nails. Cosmetologists can do both hair and nails, or focus their careers in one area. With additional training and education a cosmetologist can also be an esthetician. Esthetics focuses on skin care only.
Training in beauty culture includes subjects like anatomy, physiology, client care, body language, sales and marketing, health and nutrition, besides knowledge of skin and hair, their characteristics and functions. Hairstyling is taught as an academic discipline in various polytechnics and also at some academies. Scientific and systematic training is important as much as it is to practice on live models and on blocks to get a feel of the actual process of hairstyling.

There are many training institutes like VLCC / Lakme / Jawed Habib etc. Every training institute have a different provision for admission based on course duration and course type. 1) Yes, you can pursue the course. To be eligible for beautician - cosmetology course, there is no specific entry qualification to enter the field except for an interest, inclination and the desire to keep learning. It is the experience and hands on practice that counts.
