Cotton University

Cotton University offers admission to various UG courses including BA, BCA, BSc based on CUET UG scores followed by round-wise counselling. The university releases the merit lists for candidates who qualify for the cutoff. The schedule for cut off is yet to out. 

Candidates who complete the Cotton University admission process are eligible to pay the course fee. Students can opt for both offline and online mode of payment. The tuition fee for Cotton University courses ranges from INR 3.6K- 1.33 Lacs based on the course selected by the students. The University offers respective courses for duration varying from 2 years to 4 years. 

As per the recent Cotton University placement stats, the median package offered during UG 3-year and PG 2-year placements 2023 stood at INR 5.15 LPA and INR 3.89 LPA, respectively. Whereas, 13 UG and 95 PG students were placed during Cotton University Placements 2022. The University has not yet released the highest package figure. The same will be reflected here once out.

Admission t Cotton University is offered based on Class 12 aggregate of 50% to 60%  for UG level admissions. Whereas, for PG level admissions, candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 50% in graduation. In addition to this, candidates must secure valid scores in accepted entrance exams. Considering 85% aggregate in Class 12 or graduation, candidates can successfully qualify the primary selection round. 

Cotton University admission is entrance-based for all the courses. The university offers UG, PG, and Doctoral programmes specialised in Science, Arts, and Computer Applications. Cotton University conducted an online mode of application via SamartheGov. Admission to these courses is done based on various entrance exams, such as CUET and CPGEE for admission to UG and PG courses, respectively. Cotton University adheres to the solemn code of conduct and has committees associated with every ongoing act in the Institution. The infra involves sports grounds and various other places within the campus to accommodate every cultural event and achievement-worthy facility. Cotton University grievance committee and discipline committee conduct 24/7 surveillance to keep the students safe and secure inside the campus as well as outside the campus.

As a Higher Education institution, Cotton College has gone through several milestones from the initial phase of being under Calcutta University to the present when it is one of the full-fledged autonomous state universities of Assam. It is a Public State University established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam.

It was established in 2017 by the provisions of an Act enacted by Assam Legislative Assembly to merge the Cotton College State University and Cotton College.
