Being a Dairy Technologist (B.Tech- NDRI, Karnal) myself, I can clearly tell you that it has a very good scope, even better than any other engineering. This industry will never run out of jobs and opportunities, plus you always have an option to go for higher studies if you are not interested in a job after B.Tech. But as is the case of all other B.Tech degrees, where you do it from always matters.
One other important factor is fees. Here you don't spend lakhs of rupees as fees, so it does not create a burden on you or your parents.
Talking about getting a decent job, it always depends on you how well you are with academics and how much knowledge you have about your subject. I understand even after having these capabilities you need a platform. NDRI, for example, has a dedicated placement cell and no one for that matter stays without a job. Starting salaries are either equivalent to or in some cases more than what other engineers might get.

In case of B.Tech. Dairy Technology graduates, the prime recruiters are Dairy farms and firms that process dairy products. Average starting salary is generally between 2-4 Lakh Rupees per year. In case of business venture, earnings will vary much. In such firms, one may take on responsibilities such as-
Dairy Plant supervisor Dairy Plant Manager/Assistant Manager Purchase Manager Logistics and Distribution Manager Quality Control Officer
Graduates may also find officer level job posts in Food processing and production firms too. Also, after following up B.Tech. Degree with M.Tech. Degree, one may also pursue a teaching career. It will also help one build a career in the Research and Development sector too!

Bachelor of Technology in Dairy or B. Tech. Dairy Technology as it is famously known among the masses is a4 yearlong undergraduate engineering degree course which involves training the admitted students extensively in the production, processing and quality control of dairy related products. The minimum eligibility requisite is 10+2 or an equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as their subjects.
B. Tech. in Dairy technology is being offered by numerous private and government colleges/universities. During the four long years of the course, the students will have to give theory exams, gain practical related knowledge required for the field and undergo training and submit a report for the same towards the end of the course.
Tuition fee for B. Tech. Dairy Technology ranges from 2 to 5 lakhs INR in various institutes. It may exceed this bracket in some private universities.
A person holding a degree of B.Tech. Dairy Technology can be employed by big companies like Mother Dairy, Amul, Nestle, Reliance and Hindustan Unilever etc. They can expect to earn a starting salary of anywhere between 15000 INR to 65000 INR depending upon ones chosen profile and skills. They can choose to work as Dairy scientists, Dairy equipment repairer, Dairy managers and dairy consultants, etc.
