Have a question about dMAT Exam? Ask our experts
Keep it short & simple. Type complete word. Avoid abusive language.
Is rough sheet or scratch paper provided for calculations in the dMAT Subject Module?
No. Scratch paper, rough sheets, pens, and calculators are strictly forbidden during both the Core and Subject Modules. All deductions, note tracking, and estimations must be conducted mentally on the screen.
Those with a strong academic background report that 2–3 weeks are sufficient. Daily practice on the three Core Module question formats is enough to get a good score. Remember it's an aptitude test rather than a content-based one.
Can I retake just the dMAT Core Module if I'm unhappy with my score?
No. The Core Module can't be retaken on its own. A retake means sitting the full dMAT again, including the Subject Module. This happens on a future test date, along with full fee.
Does the dMAT Core Module score affect my APS certificate?
A low Core Module score does not automatically block your APS certificate. Though it may still factor into how individual universities assess your application, sometimes via percentile-based cut-offs.
Is the dMAT Core Module the same for every applicant?
Yes. Regardless of your Master's programme or Subject Module, every candidate attempts the same Core Module - Figure Sequences, Mathematical Equations, and Latin Squares.
Does a low dMAT score hurt my chances of admission to MBA in Germany?
Not automatically. German universities independently decide how (or whether) to factor in your dMAT result alongside the rest of your application; APS India has confirmed that there is no automatic penalty tied to the score for the APS certificate itself.
The official dMAT website does not restrict retakes - though each attempt requires fresh registration and the full €150 fee. Since the certificate has indefinite validity and there's no minimum score requirement for APS purposes - most applicants won't need to retake it purely for APS.
Start by understanding the official dMAT exam pattern and the three Core Module tasks: Figure Sequences, Mathematical Equations and Latin Squares. Then prepare for your applicable Subject Module or the General Academic Module if you are an Indian APS applicant.
Why is there no specialist module option during dMAT registration?
The official dMAT portal has not released any reasoning why there is no specialist module during dMAT registration. Currently, candidates can only select the General Academic Module.
