BA Economics if opted from a good college like St. Xavier's College-Mumbai or some DU college has much wider scope than BA. But if you did not get in top colleges then it is advisable to do BBA since it is a technical and professional course and has a higher value of its degree than any of the low BA colleges.

Look, after 12th, you have to do B.Sc. and then M.Sc.
Now, M.Sc. in Economics is a very good course and has a good future too, so you can opt for it.

Yes, there will be entrance for UG in economics and as per the sources say the online registration will be start in 2nd week of June 2018 and may close in 4th week of June 2018. and for syllabus, you may solve previous year question paper or you must have knowledge of the following topics:-
microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory, mathematical techniques used by economists, and probability, statistics and elementary econometrics.
